Weddings x By Hand Farm

Let’s create a wedding to remember.

Let’s create a wedding to remember.

We offer 3 tiers of floral services:

Floral Buckets

You pick up buckets of mixed flowers and foliage on the farm, a day or two before the event. You’ll get to choose from a few loose color themes (moody, brights, whites, pastels, or farmer’s choice). Each 3 gallon bucket contains 70-90 stems, and you and your friends get to make your own arrangements. Over email, I will help you figure out how many you’ll need and can provide some general tips for handling and arranging. Buckets are $115 each, and must be picked up from the farm in Newfane. There is no order minimum.

A La Carte

You order prearranged pieces from a menu that includes both personal flowers (bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, etc) and vessel arrangements (centerpieces and bud vases). Orders can be picked up from the farm or delivered to the venue for a fee. There is no order minimum for farm pickup. The minimum order for delivery is $1500, plus a delivery fee dependent on location. We can only deliver a la carte florals to venues within an hour of the farm.

Full Service

By Hand Farm will take care of all florals for your big day, including coordination with your wedding planner and venue, delivery, installation, and breakdown. Full service weddings generally include personal flowers like bouquets and boutonnieres, vessel arrangements, and any installations like floral arches, hanging pieces, or aisle arrangements. The sky is the limit for creative installations- we’d love to hear your ideas! If you know you’d like a certain color palette, or that you want any kind of floral installation, this is the option for you. The minimum investment for full-service floral design is $2500.

Design Philosophy and Sustainability Ethic:

As a farmer-florist, I am committed to using local and regional flowers for events. I love how designing with seasonal flowers captures the time and regionality of each unique gathering. My designs tend towards the whimsical and colorful, always making sure to highlight the ephemerality and delicateness that is inherent to working with fresh flowers. Flowers will break your heart, in the best way, and I try to invite everyone else into that relationship with flowers through my design work.

I grow most of my own flowers with organic methods on my small farm, but will occasionally buy certain varieties from other local growers when needed. The wedding industry can sometimes create a lot of waste, and in contrast to that I strive to create sustainable, no-waste floral designs that allow for all stems to be composted at the end of the event, returning the nutrients to the soil in order to help future flowers thrive.

I find that having the so-called “limits” of working with local flowers actually pushes me to grow as a designer, getting creative with what varieties are in season. Just like a chef who chooses to work with local ingredients has to find new ways to feature them, instead of just ordering anything they want from anywhere in the world, I too find that my sustainability ethic informs my design style, and pushed me to grow as a designer.
